Colloquium / November 13, 2024 - November 14, 2024
Second event in the "Wasserperspektiven" dialog series: Trace pollutants in water management
Even at low, concentrations, trace pollutants and pathogens in wastewater can have a negative impact on the environment and health. In view of this, the European Union has recently amended the EU Wastewater Directive which is now explicitly stating the elimination of trace pollutants in the law. The “Wasserperspektiven” dialog series, organized by the Fraunhofer SysWasser Alliance, is developing new approaches in water management in response to this. The event is particularly relevant for companies that are experiencing challenges caused by micropollutants in wastewater, for operators of wastewater treatment plants and municipal facilities, for suppliers of wastewater technologies, and for anyone else from the water industry who is interested.
The program of the “Wasserperspektiven” dialog series is spread over two days. On November 13, the fourth treatment stage will be visited at the Mannheim sewage treatment plant. The following day, November 14, the focus will be on dialogues in which different perspectives on the topic of trace pollutants in water management will be examined. In addition to legal requirements and specific applications of the participants, challenges and solutions will be discussed.
Our Head of Department Diamond-based Systems and CleanTech, Dr. Voker Sittinger, will present the SERPIC project, in which an integrated technology has been developed to reduce trace pollutants and pathogens in the outflow from wastewater treatment plants, thus enabling the use of wastewater for plant irrigation.
