Why do we need hydrogen? The answer is simple: For a climate-neutral economy. Wherever direct electrification is not possible, hydrogen can replace fossil fuels - directly or in bonded form for example as powerfuel Where can I get hydrogen and how can I use it? Green hydrogen is produced by splitting water with the help of renewable energies. In our program, you will learn how to produce, transport and use green hydrogen. In the process we share with you the latest research knowledge from the Fraunhofer IST and show you how hydrogen is already being used by our associate companies. You will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with scientists and entrepreneurs, but you will also get an introduction to the components of tomorrow's hydrogen economy. You don't need any prior knowledge. We will start from where you are now. We look forward to meeting you!

The SUSCON XI conference is organized by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong and will take place from 21 to 23 November 2024. The focus is on environmental sustainability and the removal of carbon from the environment. It is thus an important platform to promote innovative solutions and strategies to combat climate change with the aim of achieving net-negative greenhouse gas emissions in a climate-positive world. The director of the Fraunhofer IST, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Herrmann, will give a keynote speech on positive impact factories for sustainable cities.

The International Battery Production Conference (IBPC) will take place from November 27 - 29, 2024 in Braunschweig. Since 2018, the conference focuses on production-related topics in the battery industry, such as recycling, circular economy and supply chains in order to promote the transformation of the mobility system. It supports the high pace of innovation in new materials and production technologies that need to be transferred from laboratory scale to industrial mass production. The conference serves as an international exchange and networking platform dealing with the latest developments in battery production. The Fraunhofer IST is represented at the conference with various lectures, posters and seminars.

On 21 and 22 January, the Fraunhofer IST and PLASUS are jointly organizing an industry workshop on the topic of “Process Control in Production Lines - Latest Developments and Future Trends”. The inaugural session of the workshop will include a series of lectures, followed by product shows. On the second day, participants will have the opportunity to engage with the subject matter through practical experimentation. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Bandorf und Dipl.-Phys. Holger Gerdes from the Fraunhofer IST will be contributing two lectures to the workshop program.

The 15th International Conference on HIPIMS provides a platform among leading international scientists, engineers and students for a discussion of recent achievements in High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering plasma and coating technology. The 15th HIPIMS conference will take place from June 25-26, 2025 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST in Braunschweig, Germany.
